6 Word Memoir

Would you be able to tell the story of you life in only six words?

My brilliant cousin Brianna brought this concept to my attention, and I have to say, it really stumped me.  Six words is barely a sentence; how do you sum up your entire life?

At first I couldn't think of a single one.  I finally broke through the mental barrier and came up with a few that I think sum up my life (or life views)  pretty nicely.

Some were funny (albeit true):
-Bubble wrap is a cathartic tool.
-Life is better in comfy pants.
-Baby animals can make anything better.
-Hot new shoes, instant confidence boost.

and others were more serious
-Pretending to know what I'm doing.
-Stronger than I thought I was.
-Faking it till I make it.  (Highly unoriginal, but still true!)

Your turn!
What's your six word memoir?

I want to be a part of it New York, New York

You know what I miss about living in NY?

Well, a lot of things actually, but one of them is the Italian deli.  It's a part of my childhood, and I've yet to find anything even remotely close in NH.  I think it's mostly because there aren't a lot of Italians in NH period.  Those Irish and French are good people, but it does make me feel kind of homesick sometimes.

So long story short, I take full advantage of the deli whenever I make the trip to NY.  I buy bagels/rolls/Italian bread/etc, transport it back home and somehow manage to fit it all into my freezer.

and of course, I get lunch

ooooh yea.

Oh dear, what to wear?

I'm torn, blog-land.  I know there aren't many of you out there, but feel free to weigh in with any opinions.

I'm going to one of my good friends from High School's wedding in a few weeks.  And I need to look good.  Like, really good.  My reasons are silly, childish, and completely vain, and I really don't care.  I'm going to need all the self confidence I can get, which requires one hell of an outfit.

I went shopping and initially found this:

Mine is darker, more of a purpley dark blue.

Then, this weekend I went shopping again and by chance found this:

Now, I don't know which to wear.  Both are really flattering on curvy figures and I love how they make me look.  They're just two very different looks.  And I'm not sure which one is the way to go.

Aaaaand of course- the shoes.  In either case I plan on wearing these:

I might just be more excited about the shoes than I am about the dress.

ch ch ch changes

I guess Facebook changed again?  Honestly, I probably wouldn't have even noticed if it wasn't for the massive amount of outraged statuses on my news feed.

I mean, yea, it's slightly annoying that I have to spend a little time to figure out the new features, but that annoyance is based sheerly out of laziness.

Breath people.  It's really not a big deal.

Puppies!

It's a fact that Jakey will be sorely missed, but I'm very fortunate in that I have two other furballs in my life.  They're adorable, full of kisses, and make me happier than I can tell you.  Want to see pictures?  Of course you do.  Who can turn down puppy pictures?

That's them.
The two cutest hotdogs ever.

Murphy was a southern rescue that we found on Petfinder.  I guess his old humans couldn't take care of him once they had a baby.  Unfortunate for them, because he is one awesome pup.

He's a character, and a doxie through and through.  He loves fetch, fluffy pillows, and will defend his pink fuzzy bone to the death.  God help you if you try to take it away from him.

And boy, is he protective.  He guards the pet door at my parent's house- ensuring the evil cat doesn't get me...

Pretty much, hes just the best ever.

Now, Tootsie.  Once upon a time I put my name on a wishlist for the local animal shelter, and they promised me they'd call if they ever had any dachshunds for adoption.  Lo and behold, roughly 2.5 months after Murphy came to live with us, I got a call.  They had a little girl that had been surrendered and she needed a forever home.  We hadn't planned on a second dog, but you know, Murphy needed a sister.

She was really shy at first.  Luckily she got over that pretty quickly and became the best cuddle buddy.  Her personality is best described as Simple dog from Hyperbole and a Half. Sweet, but not the brightest crayon in the box.  I've got stories that will leave you in stitches, but that's a post for another day.

She's just a sweetheart.  Definitely a momma's girl, and I won't lie- its unbelievably ego boosting that she refuses to leave my side.

I have a million more pictures I could add, but I imagine you're probably reaching your limit.  Besides, I don't want to be know as that crazy blogger who only posts pictures of her pets.  So I'm done for tonight, but I promise I'll share the cuteness as it presents itself.

Saying goodbye

I hate to get all serious so soon into my new blog's life, but this is worth it.

Today, we lost my childhood dog Jake.  He's been suffering from severe joint problems for as long as I can remember, and more recently from canine diabetes and massive infections.  As of this morning, he has stopped responding to his medication, and my parents made the heartbreaking decision to end his suffering.

Oddly enough, Saturday would have been 14years since we brought him home from the local shelter.  He was the cutest little pup, and I knew immediately that he was the one for us.  He grew from an adorable puppy into such a wonderful dog.  He was a huge teddy bear with a terrifying bark.

Unfortunately, Jake lived with my parents in NY and I'm up in NH.  I wasn't able to be there.  But thanks to modern technology I was able to skype with my mom, and she put the laptop on the floor so I could say goodbye.

RIP Jakey.  You were the best dog I could have hoped for and I'll miss you.

Well, here we go.

So.  Somehow I managed to start a blog.  Honestly, I’m not quite sure how it happened.  One minute, I was trying to comment on a friend’s post and the next, BAM!  I got me a blog.
I’ll admit, I’m not always the most technologically inclined, so I can’t say I’m really all that surprised.  But as my wise friend Bebe said, I started it;  I may as well use it!  And really, that’s not such a bad idea.  As of this coming Monday I’m going to find myself with a lot more free time.  A potential hobby couldn’t hurt.
I don’t foresee this having any sort of ongoing theme, probably more daily musings than anything else.  I’ve recently started with this whole “healthy” idea that’s all the rage nowadays, so that probably will come up a bit.  But it definitely won’t be a “health” blog, I value my cinnamon buns and mac and cheese far too much to give myself that label.  And besides, I have a feeling that you’ll be just a likely to find pictures of my dogs, a discussion on why I need a pot belly pig in my life, or commentary on the awesomeness of bubble wrap.   I can be kind of random with my thoughts in real life; I can’t imagine my writing to be any different.
So, on that note, here we go!
